Health & Wellbeing

Make sure you bring any medication that you may need with you. If there is an emergency you can call 999 (or 112) to contact all emergency services (police, fire, ambulance and coastguard). You can also let any of the TCFT Team and Youth Leaders know if you need help or advice.

Food

We've arranged a healthy menu with the University's catering team for breakfast, lunch and dinner over the two weeks. It shouldn't be necessary for you to cook and buy snacks but we suggest that you bring some money just in case you want to.

British Weather

Officially, Bournemouth is the UK's sunniest town, but this doesn't guarantee that we'll be able to walk around in shorts and t-shirt for the two weeks. Please make sure you bring warm clothes for when it's rainy and chilly and summer clothes for the times when it gets "hot".

Remember, there's a beach in Bournemouth and we may have access to the sports centre at Bournemouth University. Bring a good selection of clothes with you.

We recommend bringing plenty of jumpers, scarfs, shorts, t-shirts, and a couple of options for shoes.

Washing Machines

There are washing machines for residents of the TCFT Village, but like most Universities in the UK they are very expensive and we want to avoid using them as much as possible. If you need to use them please team up with other people so we don't waste money and water.

WIFI

The TCFT Village and Bournemouth University campus is mostly all covered with WiFi. We will let you know login details when you arrive.

Addicted to coffee?

If you're a regular coffee drinker, we suggest you bring a coffee pot with your own coffee. Domestic coffee in the UK is mostly instant coffee and the coffee shops across the University and Bournemouth are quite expensive!

Smoking

Smoking laws are strict in the United Kingdom. It is illegal to smoke inside public and private institutions, and is forbidden across the entire Bournemouth University campus. It will be allowed near the TCFT Village but please be careful about smoke going in through windows and open doors of the houses.
