LARA POPOVIĆ is an artist and costume designer from Belgrade, Serbia and a member of Theater Mimart. She graduated Fashion and apparel design and got her master degree in Costume design on Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. Now, Lara is enrolled in doctoral studies of Theory of dramatic arts, media and culture at Faculty of Dramatic arts in Belgrade, Serbia. Last few years Lara presented her works on several group exhibitions on Prague Quadrennial (PQ Show and tell), International festival of visual arts Arteria V in Cittanova, Croatia, in Ontario Science Centre in Toronto, Canada, Belgrade Cultural Centre, Museum of applied arts in Belgrade, etc. Besides making costume installations as works of art, Lara enjoys being a costume designer in film and theater. Last year she did costume design for Theater Mimart’s performance arts “Thinking time” and “Road signs” which was presented during TCFT in Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year she was costume designer for “ALL”- Mimart’s performance art which included people with mental illnesses. She also improves and shares her skills through different kinds of collaborations and workshops such as “Magical windows” (Les merveilleux vitrines) French Institute workshops in Belgrade and First International Turkish and Serbian designers workshop in Belgrade “First+”. She has experience in didactic educational work in primary, secondary and high schools and participated in national didactic exhibition “Wisdom of senses – children’s creativity in visual arts”. Lara is eager to learn, explore and share experiences in art, fashion and costume design, art activism and popularization of visual arts especially amongst young people and children.
