The Urban Playground Team is the original Performance-Parkour (or 2PK) company, coining that phrase to describe their unique fusion of parkour’s principles and movement with contemporary and urban dance in performances that have toured to five continents for clients including the British Council and National Theatre. In 2013 they founded the 2PK Network to support other companies experimenting with the performance language of parkour and they mentor practitioners across the UK and Europe, Scandinavia and the USA. The UPG itself was the world’s first purpose built mobile parkour area and the team designed the UK’s first permanent site which opened in 2009. The company teach wherever they perform and often create participant performances and site specific work. They have performed in theatres, studios, carparks and derelict buildings. They have worked on the street and on rooftops. They have performed on moving buses and their current work, STEAM, is set to tour India by train in 2017.
